Presenter Bios:

Kate Rassmagina
Kate is an experienced HR professional with more than 15 years of expertise in human resources operations, compliance, employee relations, and workplace processes. Kate supports organizations in conducting effective Interactive Process Facilitation, helping employers engage in the legally required, good-faith dialogue to explore reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities. In this role, she coordinates and facilitates interactive process meetings, reviews documentation and job requirements, guides both parties through accommodation options, and ensures compliance with ADA, FEHA, and internal policies; reducing legal exposure and supporting procedural fairness. She’s known for her practical, thoughtful approach and her ability to guide teams through complex situations with clarity and care.

Tomas Chavez, Ed.D.
Dr. Chavez is a seasoned human resources and organizational leader with extensive experience in education and HR systems design. As a human resources executive and administrator, Dr. Chavez has led HR strategy, employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, compliance initiatives, and organizational change efforts, including oversight of ADA accommodations and the facilitation of legally compliant interactive process meetings. Dr. Chavez’s experience includes directing human resources operations, negotiating labor agreements, developing performance systems, and partnering with leadership to align people strategy with organizational priorities. He has also served in school and district leadership roles, giving him a unique perspective on complex organizational dynamics and workforce needs.
